Ortler Sky – A Week in the Mountains of Sulden
For one unforgettable week, I found myself high in the mountains of Sulden, where the air is thin, the snow is deep, and the peaks of the Ortler Alps rise like frozen waves against the sky. Days were spent skiing through fresh powder, carving paths between silence and wind, the world softened by white.
There’s a kind of peace that only exists on a snowy slope—just you, the mountain, and the sound of your breath. I carried my camera everywhere, trying to capture it all: the sharp ridgelines glowing at sunrise, the quiet forests draped in frost, the weightless joy of moving downhill.
But not all stories end in stillness.
On the last day, with a bit too much speed and a little too much confidence, I crashed—spectacularly. My camera didn’t survive, its lens cracked like ice under boot. Still, I kept the memory: the fall, the laughter, the snow dusting my face, and the mountain standing quietly above it all.
Sulden gave me more than just images. It gave me light, movement, and a reminder that sometimes, the best moments aren’t the ones you capture—but the ones you simply live.
